This specially made 9″ BFD Hellcat jetted plunger has been customized with Mother of Pearl shell, a beautiful design, and genuine Specularite.
The incredible shell on both sides and the top is Gray Silver Lip Mother of Pearl, and you can see in the photos how the pinks, greens and blues of the shell change in different light, just like the flash of a baitfish. The flashes of silver in different angles make this a perfect color for a lure.
The top accent is of the same Gray Silver Lip, and the tiny fleks are Mother of Pearl flakes. The silver hologram tape on the bottom provides a little attention-getter for any predator looking UP at its belly. Of course, this lure also sports our Real-Life Taxidermy-Style fish eyes that are about as close to the real thing as possible.
As if that all were not enough, the black head is coated with genuine Specularite. This silver-metallic strain of Hematite has a Specular or “mirror-like” appearance that we love for the subtle sparkle and flash, and it works well with this entire combo.
The skirt combination compliments the head with an Aurora back that has all the colors of a baitfish, over a blue hologram flek inner that brings out the colors in the shell. This is a beautiful sardine that any predator will gobble up!
These shell lures are popular not just for their unique beauty, but because the iridescence and flash you get from shell is like nothing else, and has been proven to be attractive to predatory fish for many generations.
In addition to the sexy shell and design, this plunger has all the features of BFD’s successful Hellcat design and was made to pop up with awesome action, and swim great in heavy seas. Hand crafted with true belly weighting and oval saddles for a lifelike profile for stability, these jetted plungers have perfectly finished faces that have a larger surface area, giving you more action.
Our jet tubes get 20% more flow than most jets. The bigger jet tube design is customized for our unique lures, working with the oval saddles and belly weight to maintain ballast. Our jets are positioned differently, sitting higher on the face so they can ‘breathe’ when the lure comes up for air. Take a look at the photos and you will see the unique layout of the jets and see why they work so well.
The keel-weighted head weighs 3 ounces un-skirted. You can re-skirt our 9” lures when they get beat up with any 9” skirt you like, or you can use BFD’s 7” – 9” skirts from our website.
This 9” plunger is perfect for matching the hatch when bait in the water is a little bigger than your 7″ lures. Perfect for marlin, wahoo, and bigger tuna, this design is a proven winner.
